LED display circuit board is generally composed of lamp board and driver board. At present, there are two kinds of design schemes on the market, one is the combination of lamp and driver, the other is the separation of lamp and driver. Today, let’s take a look at what is the integration of light drive and what is the separation of light drive.
Integration of LED lamp and driver IC: LED lamp and driver IC are all on the same PCB board, IC is on the front of PCB, eliminating copper bar plug.
Lamp driver separation: LED is on a separate PCB board, and the driver IC is on another PCB board. The signal connection between the two PCB boards is carried out by the way of pin arrangement and bus arrangement.
The comparison between lamp driver integration and lamp driver separation is as follows
1. From the cost point of view: the cost of lamp driver integration is slightly lower.
2. From the maintenance point of view: it’s easy to maintain the separated lamp drivers, because they can replace each other to detect, and the separated lamp drivers and the centralized lamps make it easy to replace the lamps.
3. From the perspective of heat dissipation, the separation of lamp driver is more conducive to heat dissipation.
There are the following reasons for lamp drive separation
First: LED display uses plug-in led, and the lamp feet of LED affect the normal placement of back drive IC, so the lamp driver separation mode is adopted.
Second: the distance between LED screen points is too small, which affects the wiring of PCB in electronic design. The separation of lamp driver can increase the wiring area of PCB.
Third: it is conducive to heat dissipation without affecting the display effect of LED. For example, when the LED lamp density is very high, the heat of driving IC will be very high. At this time, the heat of driving IC will directly affect the LED lamp facing IC through PCB, making the color of LED lamp change. This is not the case with lamp drive separation.
It is worth noting that in general, indoor scanning screens (because of the small number of chips) use more light drivers (cost saving), while outdoor LED displays usually use the form of separate light drivers to extend the screen effect and life.
